Well, this is it. 10 years. I can’t believe it’s gone by so fast. Yet in a way, it feels like it hasn’t.

First off, I want to thank everyone who has dropped by any of my pages online, whether Deviantart, my homepage, Myspace, etc. Thank you for taking an interest in what I do. Hopefully, you will have left the page with a smile on your face.

Thank you to everyone who bothered to send me an email, watched or commented or faved a picture. It really does mean a lot to me that people are getting enjoyment out of my art.

This last 10 years has been a long learning experience for me. When I started out putting pencil to paper again (after many years of shying away from the art board) I had a lot of hills to climb and a lot of demons to overcome. This whole Artassassin thing started out as an exercise in getting back into drawing and building confidence up in my art.

I’ve had many wonderful experiences over the last 10 years. I’ve made some awesome new friends online. I’ve even gotten to talk with a few artists that I have admired over the years. I’ve gotten to work on several really cool projects. And, just recently, I have had the fortune of going out and meeting people at conventions.

The last 10 years has also had it’s downside as an artist. I’ve learned some hard lessons. And while I don’t regret learning them, as I feel they will make me a better artist in the future, I’m afraid that there may have been collateral damage from these lessons that can’t be repaired. Bridges that cannot be unburned.

But if that is my fate, then I must accept it. I have long since learned that, as much as I may want to control things, my life is going on a path predetermined. I just don’t know where it will lead. And that can be frightening.

I would like for it to be headed in a positive direction with my art. Maybe finally breaking ground into getting full time comic work as my latest attempts have fallen flat.

All I can do is keep going forward. Better myself with each picture. Better myself with each project. Better myself.

So what does the future hold for me? Don’t know. If I did, it wouldn’t be called “the Future”.

I just hope that you all will continue to join me on the next leg of my voyage. Stay for a while on the Good Ship Artassassin. Sing a jaunty sea song with me and knock back a pint or 2 of grog. Maybe we will have an adventure or two together. Maybe, just maybe, we might conquer something grand.

Until then, I thank each and every one of you for all of your support over the years. Many times when I have felt beaten down, one of you has come along, picked me back up and brushed me off. Without even knowing it.

In the near future, I am getting ready for SWACE, which will be my last convention for the year. I’m also in a holding pattern while I wait for news about the status of my book, Artassassin: Origin/Evolution. I would just pick a date, but I am slightly superstitious and don’t want to set a date and then have everything blow up. Better to be safe than sorry. So I will hold off until I know for sure. But once I have the details, I will for sure let you all know.

For my 10th anniversary, I am also preparing for Artassassin Fan Appreciation week. Yes you heard me. It will be my way of giving back to all of you. More news on that later as well as it deserves it’s own post
